It’s hard to get far in the Illinois Valley without crossing a bridge. Whether it’s a bridge over a creek or the Illinois River, you can find out what inspectors have to say about the bridge’s condition through a state website.
IDOT’s Bridge Information site allows you to select a highway and the bridges along it to find out how it did during the most recent inspection.
One bridge included on the site is the Route 251 bridge over the Illinois River south of Peru. It lists the most recent inspection as June of last year.

Student’s swine flu diagnosis incorrect
Posted by wlpo on September 17, 2009
The recent diagnosis of swine flu with an Ottawa Elementary student was apparently a wrong diagnosis.
Elementary Superintendent Craig Doster says the student that he reported last week came down with swine flu just had symptoms like the virus. Doster notified parents about the student after a doctor’s original diagnosis.
In the future, Doster says he will wait for the public health department to confirm a swine flu case before reporting it to parents.
