Overdoses lead to charges against three in Mendota

Posted by wlpo on September 11, 2009

Prescription medications and alcohol can be a dangerous mix, especially in the hands of children. But that’s apparently what happened in Mendota. Investigators say three kids were taken to the hospital after overdosing on prescription narcotics and alcohol last Friday.
The kids survived and are reportedly doing well, but two adults and a 15 year old have been arrested.
Gene Brady and Deandrea King of Mendota face misdemeanor charges of endangering the life of a child. Brady’s also been given a ticket for allowing a minor to drink. King was ticketed for allowing someone to break the liquor laws. They’ve been released with notices to appear.
The 15 year old has been arrested for drug induced infliction of great bodily harm, a class one felony. That charge has been referred to the juvenile division of the La Salle County States Attorney’s office.
