Posted by wlpo on September 8, 2009

Area schools are approaching this morning’s address by President Barack Obama in different ways.

In Peru, Superintendent Mark Cross says his students won’t be viewing the message at school today. Cross says his district isn’t interested in the controversial issues surrounding the 11 o’clock address. Cross says he support’s Obama’s message about succeeding in school but think parents can determine if their kid watches.

In Utica, parents must sign a permission slip if their students will watch at Waltham Elementary. In Seneca, many classrooms at the high school will show the address but parents can call the office to excuse their students from watching it. The superintendent says it’s not a district initiative to watch the program.
