Woman injured after I-39 accident

A crash on Interstate 39 near Oglesby left the woman driving injured.
Police say she was going north on I-39 around 2:15pm Wednesday when for reasons unknown, she drove into the median and hit a culvert, causing her van to flip twice.
Police say 48 year old Malgorzata Glabinski of DesPlaines was thrown from the van. She was taken to Illinois Valley Community Hospital and from there to St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria where’s listed in good condition.

Shots fired in La Salle

A shooting in La Salle is being investigated. Police haven’t said if anyone was hit.
Police took a report of shots fired just after 6:30pm Wednesday. They were told it happened in the area of 11th and LaHarpe Streets, but after some questioning, police say it happened near 9th and Sterling Streets.
A car police believe was involved was towed from the 400 block of Crosat Street. The Illinois State Police Crimescene investigators were called in.

Three arrested near high school on drug related charges

One of the last things you want near your local high school is a heroin dealer, but police say they’ve arrested two people for in near LP.
TRIDENT investigators say they arrested William Byrnes and Jamie Cummings of La Salle Tuesday after a drug deal with an undercover informant near the high school’s tennis courts.
Byrnes and Cummings face the charge of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. Another man who was in a car with them, Christopher Bezely, was arrested on a drug related failure to appear warrant.
All three were taken to the county jail.

Flash flood watch for most of the area

Heavy rain has many north central Illinois counties included in a flash flood watch through Thursday evening.
The National Weather Service says parts of northern Illinois received one to two inches of rain Tuesday night and Wednesday and even more has fallen overnight.
La Salle, Bureau and Putnam Counties are included in the flash flood watch.

Procession planned for retired Peru Police officer

Peru Police Officers, an honor guard and bagpipers will be part of a funeral procession for retired Peru Police officer Dale Charbonneau. The 54 year old died Sunday from cancer.
Services are Thursday 11am at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle.
Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei says everyone with the department attended Charbonneau’s visitation last night. Bernabei says they’ll meet at the Peru Police Department and travel to the funeral home.
