Bureau County Relay raises $127,000

Rain and a recession didn’t stand a chance against the 32 teams participating in the Bureau County Rely for Life.
The annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society brought in an estimated $127,000 Friday night. It raised $119,000 last year.
The weather forced the relay to be held in Hall High School’s gym.

Man dies after being hit by a car on Rt 6

Investigators are trying to figure out why a man was standing in the middle of Route 6 near Ottawa when he was hit and killed Friday night.
Police haven’t yet released the name and age of the man apparently died from severe head and other injuries.
It happened just west of Ottawa’s city limits. He was pronounced dead at Ottawa Regional Hospital.
