Former employees picket Hennepin Steel plant

Posted by wlpo on July 13, 2009

They weren’t clocking in Monday morning, but laid off steel workers have been outside of the Hennepin plant since early Monday morning.
One of the roughly a dozen picketing outside of the plant’s entrances is Leonard Barajas. He says the owner of the plant, Mittal, is allowing items from the plant to be removed this week.
Former employees say it’s a sign Mittal doesn’t plan on selling the plant that’s been closed since March, even though there’s at least one interested buyer.
The picketing will continue through the day.
