IVCC Plans In Ottawa Announced

Posted by wlpo on July 6, 2009

If the drive to Oglesby is keeping people from Marseilles or Ottawa from going to Illinois Valley Community College, it shouldn’t be an issue much longer.

IVCC officials along with city of Ottawa and Centrue Bank officials held a press conference this morning to announce the location for a satellite IVCC campus in Ottawa. It’s going to be in the old Ottawa Post Office or what’s now office space for Centrue Bank at 321 West Main Street.

The city is expected to buy the building for 700 thousand dollars after getting a 90 day purchase option for a dollar. They’ll then lease it to IVCC for a four-year term initially with the lease amount to be negotiated. Classes would start in the new building next fall.

Man arrested after incident at campground

Posted by wlpo on July 6, 2009

Spending the Fourth of July weekend at a campground sounds like a nice idea but at a campground near Sheridan things got out of hand.
La Salle County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the Rolling Oaks Campground at about 3am Sunday for a man accused of arguing with the person at the main gate and driving recklessly.
Jason Judd of Sandwich was arrested for three counts of leaving the scene, not reporting an accident, reckless driving and disorderly conduct.
Police say he almost hit several people with his car but did hit a fence at the campground. Police say he left the campground and ended up rolling his car into a field.
He was taken to the county jail.
