A new fiscal year and no state budget. Senator Gary Dahl says the lack of progress in Springfield has made him frustrated. He blames Governor Pat Quinn, House Speaker Mike Madigan, and Senate President John Cullerton, all Democrats, for using the people of Illinois for their own political gain.
When Quinn became governor earlier this year, Dahl was hopeful they would pass a budget without working through the summer, but now he says the administration is dysfunctional.
The senate adjourned last night. Dahl is unsure when he’ll be called back. He thinks it could be as late as the week of July 13.

Posted by wlpo on July 1, 2009
A “Concert for a Cause” has lived up to its name. The Little Big Town and Zac Brown Band show Saturday night was held, in part, to raise money for Holy Family School’s new gym floor. Proceeds from the concert hosted by Lou’s LaGrotto will cover the total 31 thousand dollar cost of having new gym floor installed later this month.
Jill Jasiek is the principal of Holy Family School. She says the new floor will benefit students for years to come. She received the news Wednesday morning.
The old floor was starting to fall apart after years of use and waxing. The new floor is made by the company Sport Court. They’ll be the one’s installing it.
Rain and storms delayed the concert held out doors at the Cedar Point Sportsmen’s Club, but still most of the four thousand people who bought tickets hung around for the performances.
