Homelessness Brought To Light In Ottawa

Posted by wlpo on June 24, 2009

Ottawa doesn’t really have a homeless problem but there will be dozens of people sleeping in cardboard boxes in town tonight.

“A Servant’s Heart” along with several churches are organizing “A Night Without a Home” event in Washington Square. Over 70 people are expected to camp out in the park in a cardboard box to raise awareness of homelessness. The event starts at six tonight and ends at seven tomorrow.

People sleeping in the park can bring one comfort item and are asked to bring five dollars worth of nonperishable food, diapers or toiletries.
