Clock Tower Getting Fixed

Posted by wlpo on June 4, 2009

A spiffy new clock tower should be up before students head back to L-P High School.

The L-P School Board yesterday voted to pay Vissering Construction 253 thousand dollars to repair the over 80 year old tower.  Wasting no time, crews should be moving equipment in today and begin demolishing the spires and parapet wall above the clock next week.

To save money and meet building codes, the repaired pinnacles and parapet wall above the clock will be shorter than they are now and the detailed carving on the tower will be scaled back.  In another cost cutting move, the medallion won’t be a part of the new tower and brick instead of stone will be used for the piers of the spires.
