School district receives backing of city council

The City of Ottawa will help the Ottawa Elementary District to try and force FEMA’s hand.
The council voted Tuesday to pay half the cost of an advocacy group which is supposed to help get FEMA to pay towards a replacement school for Central Elementary. Mayor Bob Eschbach estimated it will cost the city $30,000 to $40,000.
Commissioner Dale Baxter voted against the agreement saying the city has “enough on their plate”.
