Woman Arrested For Fake Robbery

Posted by wlpo on May 16, 2009

A LaMoille woman was arrested yesterday after an over two year robbery investigation.

La Salle Police arrested Cheryl Powers on a warrant for felony theft after saying she made up a robbery story to try and steal money from her employer.

Back in October of 2006, Powers reported that a black man approached her in her car and punched her in the face, taking several bank bags of cash.  Powers claimed she was depositing the money for the Eastside Shell Gas Station that she worked at.

After the lengthy investigation, investigators say Powers and her boyfriend Dimitrious Fields made up the plan to try and steal the money from the gas station where Powers was a supervisor.

Powers was taken to the county jail.  Fields was already in the Rock Island County Jail on unrelated charges.

Local GM Dealers In The Clear

Posted by wlpo on May 16, 2009

Looks like even more bullets dodge by local car dealerships.

After no Chrysler dealerships were put on the chopping block, General Motors dealers in the area found out yesterday their staying open.  GM sent letters to dealers yesterday if they wanted them to close.  Around eleven hundred GM dealers got closure letters but none locally.

Chrysler wants to close 789 dealerships next month while the GM closings will happen by late next year.
