Peru could create city engineer position

Do you have engineering skills or a background in public works? Touch-up your resume because Peru’s looking for people to possibly fill those positions and more.

Mayor Scott Harl says they’re coming up with a job description for a city engineer, something that would be a new position. For many years, the city has hired Chamlin and Associates for engineering work, but could be changing in the coming months.

Harl would like to accept resumes for engineer up until June 8. But with it being a new position, it’ll come up for more discussion during a formal meeting. Harl told the council during the informal meeting Wednesday night they would advertise the open positions and they would review the submissions as a group.

They’ll also be taking resumes from people interested in the public works director and building inspector positions.
